Sequel to the meteorological report that there will be eclipse on Thursday, September 1, the FCT police command has called on all residents of the Federal Capital Territory to be vigilant as miscreants could take advantage of the situation to perpetrate criminal act.
This was made known in a statement signed by Anjuguri Manzah, the police public relations officer for the commissioner of police, FCT Command in Abuja.

The command also wishes to warn those contemplating to exploit the climatic condition for the purpose of committing crime to have a rethink about their plans as anybody arrested in the act will be decisively dealt with in accordance with law.
Mr Muhammad Mustafa, the commissioner of police, seized this medium to assure FCT resident that the command has put in place adequate measures to provide water-tight security across FCT.

The National Space Research and Development Agency (NASRDA) earlier announced that the eclipse will be experienced between the hours of 7.15am and 10.03am with slight variations in actual timing across the country, advising Nigerians not to panic.
An annular solar eclipse occurs when the moon’s apparent diameter is smaller than the sun’s, blocking most of the sun’s light and causing the sun to look like an annulus (ring).
