Today in fashion show nightmares….
Imagine it’s the morning before your fashion week show and one-third of your collection is missing—because it’s lost in the mail. Unfortunately, Libertine designer Johnson Hartig doesn’t have to imagine this scenario, because…it’s happening to him. Right now. UPS hasn’t delivered two boxes full of runway clothes from Los Angeles, which contain around 20 to 30 pieces, according to a press release. One box was never given a tracking number, UPS discovered, and the other is just missing.
“I’m devastated. And the fact that UPS have been totally unempathetic without even holding themselves accountable to this situation is particularly frustrating, considering how much work has gone into producing these pieces throughout the past six months,” Hartig said in a statement.
Hand-worked, crystal-adorned vintage dresses and capes—the result of many hours of labor—are out there somewhere. But tonight, an abbreviated show will take place before guests Iris Apfel, Natalie Joos, and more. It’s Hartig doing his best with a real fashion week nightmare.
