Liverpool continued to show signs of improvement as they went to 3rd placed Southampton’s home, St Mary’s stadium and beat the saints 2-0 in their own backyard thanks to Coutinho and Sterlings strikes.
Southampton started brightly moving the ball around and had a penalty shout shot down by the referee before Coutinho put Liverpool ahead in the 3rd minute, shooting the ball in from range off the crossbar. Southampton continued to pile pressure on Liverpool but Lovren and co. stood firm to deny the Croatian’s former club. As Southampton searched for an equalizer in the second half, Liverpool hit them with the soccer punch as Moreno’s low cross was poorly dealt with, allowing Sterling to knock the ball into the net.
Liverpool continue to improve as their bid for top four football becomes more serious and the season comes to its closing stages
