The 2013 film,THE GREAT GATSBY makes its commercial TV network premiere tonight on AMC with back-to-back showings beginning at 7 p.m. ET/PT.
Starring Leonardo DiCaprio , Tobey McGuire and Carey Mulligan, the Baz Lurhmann-directed movie garnered two Academy Awards in 2014 and earned more than $350 million in worldwide distribution.
An adaptation of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s iconic novel, “The Great Gatsby” is the story of midwest native Nick Carraway (Tobey Maguire) who arrives in 1922 New York in search of the American dream.
Nick, a would-be writer, moves in next-door to millionaire Jay Gatsby (Leonardo DiCaprio) and across the bay from his cousin Daisy (Carey Mulligan) and her philandering husband, Tom (Joel Edgerton). Thus, Nick becomes drawn into the captivating world of the wealthy and — as he bears witness to their illusions and deceits — pens a tale of impossible love, dreams, and tragedy.
Baz Lurhmann co-wrote and directed THE GREAT GATSBY which began filming in 2011 in his native Australia, and it became the director’s highest grossing movie.
The film was produced by Village Roadshow Production, Bazmark Productions, A&E Television and Red Wagon Entertainment. It was distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and Roadshow Entertainment.
