– Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi state recently lost the confidence of some of the people of his state as he was attacked
– The attackers waited for him to finish his prayers at the Lokoja Central Mosque on Friday before pelting him with stones and rotten fruits
– A monarch in the state has now told the attackers that they actually attacked God who made Bello the state governor
The traditional ruler of Lokoja, Alhaji Muhammed Maikarfi, has reportedly described those who stoned the state governor, Yahaya Bello, recently as attacking God.
Governor Yahaya Bello was attacked by youths just after prayers recently
The governor was attacked on Friday, August 26, 2016, shortly after the Jumat prayer in Lokoja, the state capital.
The governor, in his reaction, said the real reason for the attack was the discontent of those who are against his radical reforms in the state’s civil service.
Bello said he was convinced that thugs were hired by his political enemies who are pursuing personal interests.
While condemning the attack on the governor, Maikarfi warned youths in the state, especially those in Lokoja to desist from taking the laws into their hands.
