Hollywood icon Audrey Hepburn once said ‘the beauty of a woman only grows with passing years.’

It seems that this would-be-groom doesn’t agree with her sentiment.

Last Monday, a man abandoned his fiancée after she showed up to their pre-wedding photo shoot wearing makeup that made her look like an elderly woman.

But the groom didn’t approve of his bride turning up wearing her ‘old face

Things quickly turned sour when the would-be-bride arrived on Dongmen Old Street in Shenzhen wearing an ‘old face’. A heated argument between the couple ensued, to the bewilderment of onlookers.

The girl then asked her boyfriend if he would love her at 70-years-old. If so, she said, then he would not mind taking the photos with her dressed accordingly,Shanghaiist reports.

Witnesses say the groom demanded his girlfriend remove the makeup. When she refused, he yelled abuse, hurling his glasses onto the ground before leaving the woman crying inconsolably in the street.

The woman deliberately applied the makeup to see whether her boyfriend would still be devoted to her when she grew old, she said.

‘He is such a philanderer and he used to have many girlfriends,’ she said.

Afterwards, the woman said her boyfriend is ‘such a philanderer’ but she stays with him because ‘he treats her very well’

 When she refused to remove the makeup, he left the woman crying inconsolably in the street

Reporters asked the woman why she wanted to wed the man if he was an adulterer, to which she replied ‘because he really treats me very well.’

The reporters then spoke with two male bystanders. The first, an older man in a blue golf shirt, said he would have told the woman he would look after her unconditionally.

A younger man told the reporters that no man would want to marry an unattractive woman.

It is unknown whether the couple still plan to marry. There has been some speculation the event may have been an elaborate publicity stunt.
