The Minister of Sports, Solomon Dalung, has hit back at critics saying the problems in Nigerian sports are not his making but have been before assuming his position.

Speaking on Tuesday to state house correspondents shortly after briefing President Muhammadu Buhari of the outcome of the Olympics, where Nigeria got a bronze medal in the men’s football event, Dalung said: “I am not the problem of Nigerian sports. Abysmal performance has been happening before me.”

Nigerians have hit back at his less that one year tenure with many calling for his sack after the nation’s poor outing at the 2016 Rio Olympics
Dalung further said Nigeria needed to return to the grassroots sports development adding that it was ill advised for the National Sports Commission to be scrapped.
Recall that Dalung has urged the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to pay former Nigeria U-23 coach, Samson Siasia.
Dalung made this known when he received Siasia, his wife Eunice and Dr Mohammed Sanusi, secretary-general of the NFF, at his office in Abuja on Monday, August 29.
