INEC has commenced the distribution of PVCs across Edo state today, September 3, ahead of the governorship election billed for Saturday, September 10.
The electoral body has also encouraged residents in the state to go to the polling booths where they registered to vote, to collect their PVCs.
Images from the electoral body shows that the residents are complying with the directive as many are seen queuing up to collect their PVCs.

INEC has been preparing intensely for the election this past week. Already, forty four (44) observer groups have been approved by the electoral body to participate in the forth coming election.

INEC has been training security personnel on how to conduct themselves in preparation for the election.

The electoral body has also been training its staff in the state on how to handle smart card readers and conducting market outreach programmes to educate voters across the state.

Meanwhile, INEC announced yesterday, September 2, the theft of its smart card reader by an unknown man in Igarra, Akoko-Edo local government area of Edo state.
The card reader was said to have been stolen during the training of presiding officers and assistant presiding officers in the area.

In a related development, the Nigerian Police Force has concluded plans to deploy helicopters and 200 vehicles to monitor the election.
According to the acting Inspector- General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, the helicopters will provide aerial surveillance during the election, while the vehicles will logistics for Police Mobile Force personnel, as well as marine police.
