More often than not, people mistaken the flakes in their hair which is caused as a result of a dry scalp for dandruff.
According to top10homeremedies.com, “dandruff also known as seborrheic dermatitis is a common scalp disorder. It can occur due to dry skin, irritated oily skin, growth of bacteria and fungus on the scalp, inflammatory skin conditions and other such factors. It causes itchiness along with excessive formation of dry skin flakes on the scalp.”
If you are sure what you have is dandruff, here are 3 homemade remedies to it. Please be sure it is dandruff because there is really no need to fix what isn’t broken.
-Baking Soda
Baking soda is a great exfoliator i.e it is a good way to remove dead skin cells. It also acts as a fungicide, and dandruff is caused as a result of a fungus which is present in anyone’s scalp but becomes abnormally over abundant.
Simply mix a teaspoon of baking soda for every cup of warm water used and use it to massage your scalp then rinse off with warm water. This should be done in place of shampoo(daily if possible), at first your scalp might feel very dry as a result of this but eventually the natural oils in your hair will even the dryness out.
Don’t shampoo your hair after this.
After rinsing with warm water, you can apply coconut oil, tea tree oil or rosemary oil whichever is more readily available.(Do not apply too much, or you will have to rinse your hair again)
-Lemon Juice
There are 2 ways to go about this:
1) Mix lemon juice with water, apply on your scalp. Leave it for about 20minutes then wash off.
2)For every quarter cup of fresh yoghurt used, mix it with half a lemon. Massage gently into your scalp, rinse off with warm water, and then shampoo.
-Aloevera
Aloevera is often used for relief from sores and burns but it can also be used for dandruff. Simply apply aloevera all over your scalp, leave for about 20minutes. Then proceed to wash your hair normally.
Most importantly, ensure you increase your intake of fruits, water and vegetables. Also, avoid hair products with sulphate.
