A new Paris hostage crisis happened today when a man in possession of a knife claimed he had taken hostages and then falsely claimed he had a Kalashnikov and grenades.
The gunman reportedly phoned police to confirm that he had taken hostages in the post office on 158 boulevard du general de Gaulle.
Police surrounded a post office in Colombes, around seven miles from the centre of the French capital where the attacker surrendered. The two hostages he took were released.
