Ronaldo took another lead in what has become the fiercest rivalry in modern day football: the Ronaldo-Messi rivalry. Cristiano Ronaldo’s two goals in the Super cup last night took the Portuguese tally in European club competitions to 70, putting him two goals ahead of the diminutive Argentine. Ronaldo who was 18 goals behind Messi as at April 2012 scored 12 goals in the 2012/2013season and banged in a record breaking 18 goals in last season’s champions league to bring him equal on goals with Messi. And last night, he overtook the Barcelona forward.
Ronaldo is now joint second alongside Inzaghi in European goals and six goals behind Real Madrid legend, Raul who sits at the top of the log.
Ronaldo has 68 champions league goals and 2 super cup goals.
