Daily Trust reports that the deceased had called the technician to service his generator, but while he was helping him to start the generator, it exploded and burst into flames.
READ ALSO: Four killed following accident at Edo bypass However the technician, who was closer to the door, was able to escape but the pastor was trapped inside the staircase and could not escape as a result of smoke that engulfed the building.
An eyewitness who pleaded anonymity reveals efforts were made to put out the fire but the man was already dead by the time he was brought out of the staircase.
Confirming the incident, The Abia State Police Public Relations Officer, Ogbonaya Nta, said the pastor actually called a generator repairer to service his generator and in the process the generator caught fire and burnt the two of them.
In a related development, a technician was killed in Yobe state, after an iron pipe worked on by a local welder in Damaturu exploded Wednesday, August 24. Asides the technician who lost his life, a soldier was also seriously injured.
