Just hours after collecting his GSCE (General Certificate of Secondary Education) exam results, 16-year-old Nigerian school boy Temidayo Josephwas found dead.
On Friday morning, his school Ockendon Academy, near Thurrock Essex, made the sad announcement.
According to Daily Mail UK, Temidayo was a talented footballer and athlete, and was in school on Thursday to collect his results.
The cause of death is yet to be ascertained, but it is said not to be suspicious. A pupil however said that they all felt a lot of “pressure” to pass their exams.
The school released a statement on its website about his death:
“It is with great sadness we have to tell you of the death of one of our students, 16-year-old Temidayo Joseph.
We wish to extend our deepest sympathy for Dayo’s family, friends and the whole school community at this difficult time.
To help people come to terms with this tragic event, the academy will offer its fullest support and counselling.
Of course our thoughts and prayers are with the family at this time.
The Academy will be open on Saturday 23rd August from 9am to 11am for those members of our community who wish to pay their respects to Dayo Joseph.”
After the news was announced, a lot of schoolmates took to social media to send their tributes. Hundreds also visited the school today, Friday, to pay respects.
