How super can a human be? Let me rephrase, how Super can a Super Model Naomi Campbell be?!
The New York Fashion Week 2015 has been going on for a while now with celebrity designers and their supermodel counterparts taking to the runway in fabmazing collections. It was celebrity designer Zac Posen’s turn to showcase his collections and this time, supermodel Naomi Campbell opened the show.
Which commanded more attention: Naomi Campbell or the full-volumed ruby paillette flocking taffeta ball gown she was wearing?
Svelte figure and oozing every bit of grace and like a proud prom queen, the supermodel made a dramatic entrance at Zac Posen’s New York Fashion Week yesterday, walking the designer down the runway — his wide grin nearly as big as her dress.
‘I sought ways to shock classical silhouettes into the present day by adopting an “opposites attract” philosophy,’ Posen said of the gown’s ‘no-holds-barred glamour’.
‘My muses were as disparate as Grace Kelly and Chaka Khan,’ he explained, adding that he tried to retain the elegance of proportions and mood of romanticism for the fall 2015 collection.
While the rest of Posen’s collection wasn’t quite as dramatic, it was, as usual, very glamorous.
For day, he used his knack of construction and tailoring techniques to give a stylized sense of ease and motion. A calf-length bugle-bead dress inspired by the Forties was balanced with a sculpted waist to highlight the model’s frame, for example.
For evening, dresses came to life with dynamic movement from the models — literally, they twirled to prove Posen’s point
The pair was applauded by A-list front row guests, including Katie Holmes, Rihanna, and Christina Hendricks as they closed the show. Naomi always slay on the catwalk. Always. Even at this age!
