The Iyiola Omisore Campaign Organisation has debunked the rumour in the social media that there was a rift in the Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State over money released to the party from the Presidency.
The Director of Media of the Omisore Campaign Organisation, Mr. Diran Odeyemi, said this in a statement made available to our correspondent in Osogbo on Sunday.
The Chairman of the PDP in the state, Alhaji Gani Olaoluwa, also said there was no crisis in the party. He added that there was no money released to the party from the Presidency.
Omisore described the rumour as a malicious lie fabricated by the ruling All Progressives Congress to discredit the opposition party.
He said the people of the state should expect more lies from the APC as the governorship election in the state was fast approaching.
The statement from Omisore read in part, “The APC has become desperate ahead of the polls and will continue to tell different lies having seen that the PDP is coasting home to victory in the election.
“There are 20 days left to the election, so Osun people should expect 20 lies from the APC. There is no rift in the Osun PDP over money, because no money was released in the first place.
“So, the claim that Senator Omisore and some party leaders fought over money and that the campaign of the party was cancelled last week was not only a senseless lie, it is a reflection of the opposition’s acceptance of defeat, as it is bereft of worthy ideas to woo Osun people who have determined to vote for Omisore, hence its resort to jejune and meddlesome politics.”
He stated that the party’s itinerary was altered last week, like it had been at other times, because party leaders had engagements outside the state.
“I am surprised that after the wide acceptance we had at Osogbo, Olorunda and Isokan local government areas last week, they could still continue to spread lies about our party,” Olaoluwa said.
