New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has his preferred team in mind, and  is showing the door to players who are surplus to requirements.

According to the Daily Mail, Rafael, Marouane Fellaini, Nani, Anderson and Javier Hernandez have all been shown the exit door at Old Trafford.

Rafael is the only real surprise among the five, but he has no place in van Gaal’s preferred 3-5-2 formation.

Van Gaal’s new-look United are taking shape after they returned from their month-long tour of the U.S. On Tuesday they face Spanish side Valencia at Old Trafford before they face their season opener against Swansea City.
