The primate blamed the high level of poverty in the country on greed and corruption among top officials and expressed confidence that taking the measures he is suggesting would go a long way in ending the current social deprivation, insecurity, criminality and kidnapping across Nigeria.
Meanwhile, the clerk of the national assembly, Mohammed Sani-Omolori has failed to honour the request of the Nigeria Police Force which is requesting the draft and final copies of the 2016 budget.
Sani-Omolori’s failure to provide the documents to the retired Assistant Inspector-General of Police Ali Amodu-led investigation panel had stalled the probe into the allegations of budget padding against the leadership of the House of Representatives.
“The delay in responding to the police’ request by the Clerk is holding up the investigation. The letter requesting the draft copy of the budget and the final copy that was passed and returned to the President was sent about three weeks ago and up till now, the Clerk has not responded. We learned he has travelled, but the question is: did he travel with the documents?
“We expected the clerk to have sent us the budget copies or delegate another official to furnish us with the copies, but this has not been done. However, we will not be deterred by any moves to frustrate the investigation,” a source was quoted.
