On Monday, June 27, a Federal High Court in Abuja sacked Governor Okezie Ikpeazu of Abia state for allegedly submitting false information to his party, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), ahead of the party’s governorship primary election in December 2014.
Governor Okezie Ikpeazu has had to contend with several court cases since he assumed office
Justice Okon Abang ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to immediately issue a certificate of return to the plaintiff, Uche Ogah, who polled the second highest number of votes in the primary election.
But Ikpeazu will have none of that. He insisted he remains the governor, declared a two-day holiday and immediately approached a Federal High Court in Owerri who gave him a favourable judgement.
Two weeks later, an Appeal Court in Abuja ruled that the removal of the governor by the lower court is null and void.

The five-member panel of judges set aside the judgement of Justice Okon Abang. They unanimously agreed that the tax documents of the governor are not false.
The governor has since resumed his duties as the number one citizen of the state, but the issue is still a major topic on the streets of Umuahia, the state capital and beyond.
NAIJ.com sampled the views of Abians on the issue and they had different opinions.
